GHL launches Thailand’s first All-in-one QR payment via LINE
Bangkok, THAILAND: GHL Systems Berhad (GHL), the leading payment service company in ASEAN region, today launched “GHL QR Payment”, an all-in-one QR code payment channel via the popular messaging app LINE. Businesses and merchants can now receive payments from multiple QR code and e-wallet providers on the convenience of their mobile phones.

"GHL QR Payment", was developed on the LINE Official account as an alternative for merchants to receive secure QR payments based on the EMVco standard QR code. GHL is expecting this new payment acceptance channel via a merchant’s mobile phone to cascade the full range of businesses ranging from big corporations and retail businesses to micro SMEs to gig workers.

The GHL QR Payment  via LINE is a cost-effective mobile payment solution which does not require the need of a physical EDC terminal and its associated costs. This will appeal to small and especially mobile merchants and service providers who can now increase sales by adding credit card and e-Wallet QR payment channels. Merchants are able to verify transactions, cancel error transactions and view historical reports. GHL can also provide merchants with multiple branches to accept payments through a single account with multiple locations and devices.

Mr. Prinya Jinantuya, Chief Executive Officer of GHL Thailand said, “The launch of GHL QR Payment is the first in Thailand that QR payment service is available through a LINE Official Account. The growing usage of cashless payments is evident in Thailand, further demonstrated by the government's increasing efforts in this area, such as the rollout of the National e-Payment project that aims to reduce the use of physical cash within the country.”

Central bank data from the Bank of Thailand (BoT) revealed that COVID-19 pandemic has led to a 54.4% increase in Thais adopting e-payments. Since 2020, the volume and value of internet and mobile banking grew 67.9% and 16.9% respectively while the value of e-Money grew 15.1% and 39.4%, respectively.

GHL chose LINE OA because it is the number one chat application in Thailand for both iOS and Android mobile operating systems. GHL has now enabled cashless payment acceptance for merchants and businesses to conveniently use on LINE, without the need to download additional apps on their mobile phone. It is also a communication channel for GHL to contact, news updates, and send information such as promotions, news, frequent problems or new services to merchants.

GHL QR Payment’s main highlight as an All-in-One payment service, which accepts all types of QR Code payments, whether it is credit cards or e-Wallets domestically and internationally, such as Promptpay, True Money, Rabbit Line Pay, Dolphin, Sabuy, and Alipay. It is also developed with a growing number of partners to cover as many payments and customer groups as possible.

GHL plans to roll this new innovative solution to all merchants groups, ranging from:
• large store organizations that wants to expand their payment channels, such as insurance agents, direct sales, food delivery, logistics, travel group as well as
• smaller merchant groups to increase payment options other than cash resulting in more sales.

GHL has organised a special campaign for small shops (non-VAT registered) with a credit card fee of only 1.5%, the rate is applicable for all card types.
